Unlike all other animals, much of what humans do in many an arena is merely a means to that end. Nice read, and I liked the analogy of body part loss of Gala not as critical as body loss in the individual, which reminded me of George Carin’s routine on this subject. “The earth doesn’t see plastic as a bad thing just one of it’s own”. or ” The planet’s not going anywhere, we are”. The problem is, and one I think you expound upon well in this piece , even if we choose our ability to survive as a definition of intelligence, other life forms are also deleteriously effected; because of our need to dominate.
