Written by Paris Williams
To begin life with such ravenous hunger
Yet to mature into a noble pollinator
With your footprint so light
And your gift so bright
To surrender to the most courageous of acts
…disintegrating your entire being into little more than goo
…trusting in organismic wisdom to see you through
From a creepy crawly poisonous rise
To the deepest nourishment to plants and eyes
To be tossed and turned by the faintest breeze
Yet to confidently traverse entire countries
To the Monarch butterfly
With your faith and surrender
So strong yet tender
Your courage and tenacity
Your humble generosity
If humankind would take inspiration and follow your lead,
Then perhaps we too could move through our greed
To pollinate the world with love and light
To let our spirits soar both day and night
