Previous studies suggest that fish experience pain and fear and that, for commercially-caught fish, the severity and duration are likely to be high. This study seeks to assess the numbers of such animals…It is concluded that the number of fish represented by average annual recorded capture tonnage (1999-2007) is of the order of a trillion.
