A mother will go to any length to protect her child, even if it means braving the most miserable and inhumane conditions imaginable. Just like humans, mothers of other species are driven to do amazing things to ensure their young ones a brighter future.

Cows, notably, are incredibly caring mothers, who form strong attachments with their children, and often cry for days after being separated from them. Sadly, female cows are forced to endure a life of perpetual impregnation, painful milking machine, and having the babies they love ripped away from their care and sent off to veal farms.

But a mother’s love is a powerful thing, and one cow mother proved just how strong.

Briana was a pregnant cow on her way to the slaughterhouse. The meat who controlled her life either didn’t know or didn’t care about her condition as they sent her down a long highway to her and her calf’s violent death. Not content to accept her fate, the 1000-pound cow broke loose from her cattle truck on New Jersey’s Route 80 last Thursday, and leapt blindly from the vehicle. Briana was rescued from the side of the road by State Troopers. She was then moved to Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, where she gave birth to a son, named Winter, on Saturday.

RESCUE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
A cow jumped out of second floor of a transport truck on to the highway..
We have her and are on our way to the vet.

Briana’s story is nothing short of inspiring. Although millions of cattle still live a life of fear and pain for human enjoyment, the bond between mother and child still holds the power to prevail. As for Briana and Winter, they are happy, safe, and most importantly, together.

Momma Brianna and baby Winter love each other so much❤️❤️❤️ It’s beautiful to watch them together..
